About Dr. Souryal

Dr. Tarek O. Souryal is a leading orthopaedic surgeon in the field of sports medicine. He founded Texas Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Group in 1989 and serves as Medical Director. He was the Head Team Physician for the Dallas Mavericks for 22 seasons having won the NBA Championship in 2011. He served as the only two-term President of the NBA Team Physicians Association.

Souryal also served as the head physician in the MLS, Arena Football League, the Central Hockey League. He was chosen by the NFL/NFLPA to serve as a neutral physician from 2006-09. He has served as Medical Director at SMU Sports Injury Clinic for 15 years. Souryal was also a Team Physician for numerous Dallas area high schools including Wilmer-Hutchins High School.

Dr. T. O. Souryal also hosted “Inside Sports Medicine” a highly rated radio show on ESPN Dallas and The Ticket for 21 years having signed off the air in 2022. Dr. Souryal is known internationally for his work on anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries and ACL Surgery. He is married and has three children.
