Dr. Turgeon joined Texas Sports Medicine in January 2007 after 11 successful years in solo practice at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. He graduated from Haverford College (Pa.), where he was a Magill-Rhoads scholar, with a B.A. in philosophy and a minor in cell biology, before returning to New Orleans for his professional training. He received his medical degree from L.S.U. School of Medicine in New Orleans before pursuing his orthopaedic surgery internship and residency at the renowned Ochsner Clinic.

His practice continues to address a broad spectrum of orthopaedic and sports-related problems with expertise in both conservative and surgical management of musculoskeletal problems. He has presented at local, national and international meetings on the topics of adult trauma, sports medicine and cartilage injuries. Professional interests include adult reconstruction and total joint replacement (arthroplasty); shoulder, knee and ankle arthroscopy including rotator cuff surgery, anterior cruciate ligament(ACL) reconstruction and treatment of complex cartilage injuries(regenerative chondroplasty and meniscal repair); trauma and fracture treatment of all age groups; and athletic injuries, with special attention to soccer, rugby, football, lacrosse and running, for recreational, competitive and professional athletes.

He has served as team doctor for St. Mark’s School of Texas for over a decade and is also assistant team physician for the Dallas Mavericks. He serves as medical director for the Classic League of Dallas (boys’ competitive soccer ages 11-19) working with trainers from the Presbyterian Sports Network (PSN) and has worked as an associate team physician for the U.S. Men’s national soccer team. He also provides coverage at local road races (running) with PSN.

Dr. Turgeon lives with his family in University Park and enjoys running, cycling, music and photography (and has only recently retired from coaching youth soccer after receiving his D license). He played college soccer, college and club rugby, was a nationally ranked duathlete in his age group and participates in competitive distance races (usually half-marathons) both here and abroad.
