DIPLOMATE, American Board of Emergency Medicine
ASSISTANT TEAM PHYSICIAN, Dallas Mavericks
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Specialist
Concussion Management

A sports medicine physician and athletic concussion specialist, Dr. Bellard is the newest addition to Texas Sports Medicine, and we are excited to have him on board. Dr. Bellard’s experience as both an emergency medicine physician and former assistant team physician to professional (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins AHL hockey team) and high-level collegiate athletes (Bucknell, Wilkes, Misericordia universities) has allowed him to evaluate the injured athlete in a complete and comprehensive fashion. As a non-operative sports medicine physician, Dr. Bellard has the skills necessary to evaluate, diagnose, and treat musculoskeletal injuries of patients ranging all levels of activity and competition. As a general musculoskeletal specialist he offers injection therapy, fracture care, rehabilitation and physical therapy protocols to treat injuries. In addition, Dr. Bellard uses current musculoskeletal ultrasound technology to assist in diagnosis and treatment strategies. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is an area of particular interest of Dr. Bellard. Becoming more and more popular amongst professional athletes, PRP is one of the latest methods of treating chronic tendinopathies (see link below). In addition to conventional methods of physical therapy and injection care for various tendinopathies, Dr. Bellard includes the option of PRP injection therapy to help speed up recovery. With the use of ultrasound technology in combination with PRP, he is able to accurately and efficiently administer therapy. Dr. Bellard has been a guest speaker with ESPN radio in regards to PRP therapy. Sports-related concussion management is another aspect of Dr. Bellard’s practice. His training in evaluation and management of concussions has provided many athletes suffering from concussion to safely return to the field of play. With a combination of diagnostic physical exam skills and neurocognitive testing (ImPACT), Dr. Bellard ensures recovery from concussion prior to resuming competitive activity. Outside of the office, Dr. Bellard has a passion for physical fitness. He enjoys weightlifting and playing basketball to maintain a healthy lifestyle. In addition to staying physically fit, Dr. Bellard loves spending time with his wife and daughter.
